Gaston Häni

Gaston Häni (born April 7, 1951 ) is known by his first name Gaston as a classic clown ( stupid August ). He comes from a Swiss circus family. His uncle was the famous clown Jean Andreff , from whom he learned his fundamentals and skills.

In 1973 he met his long-time partner in the arena and stage, Rolf Knie . Together with Rolf Knie and the white clown Pipo Sosman , Gaston went on tour with the Swiss National Circus Knie from 1973 to 1977. On the Knie tour in 1977 Gaston played together with Rolf Knie in the clown entree "Der Boxkampf", which was documented in the documentary "Circus Blues" (1978) by Oliver Matthias Meyer. At the end of the season, the clown entree "Der Boxkampf" with Rolf Knie jun. invited to the Circus Festival of Monte Carlo and awarded by Fürst Rainer.

After Rolf Knie left Circus Knie in 1984, Rolf Knie, Gaston Häni, Pipo Sosman and Valentina Pellanda formed a theater group and realized stage shows and films. The stage play "We make fun", staged by Jiří Menzel , premiered at the Schauspielhaus Zurich in April 1984 and became a successful theater spectacle (1984–1986) in Switzerland, Germany and Austria. From 1977 to 1986 he appeared with him and Pipo in many German-language entertainment shows such as Teleboy or Do you understand fun? by Kurt Felix .

With Rolf Knie he made the television film "Hotel" in 1981 and the television film "Die Grafen" in 1982, both directed by Max Sieber .

In 1986 he shot again with Rolf Knie and Pipo Sosman the cinema film Die Schokoladen-Schnüffler (in Germany: The murderer with the tiger's claw ), which was also shown in German cinemas. With the character of "Mack" he had a supporting role in the American feature film Adventure in Toy Land with Rolf Knie and Pipo Sosman in the same year .

Gaston Häni was invited to the Monte Carlo Circus Festival for the first time in 1976 and was honored by Fürst Rainer. Together with Pipo Sosman, Gaston Häni toured Germany in 1993 at Circus Roncalli . Gaston Häni has been on tour with Frithjof and Roby Gasser since 1997 and his new partner Roli Noirjean with Circus Royal since 1999 . For years, Gaston & Roli have been an integral part of the Conelli Christmas Circus in Zurich with their classic clown entrées and self-created clown numbers and make various guest appearances with the “Crazy Hotel” in Switzerland. From 2011 Gaston was involved with Roli in the Swiss “Circus Nock”, in which he first appeared in 1968 at the side of his mother - a gifted clown. In 2015 Gaston completed his last Swiss tour with the Circus Nock. He has finished his life with the traveling circus; Gaston and Roli will continue to perform as star clowns at galas and in the Christmas Circus Conelli. In 2017 clown Gaston received the "Lifetime Achievement Award" at the international circus festival in Val d'Oise - Dumont near Paris.

Gaston Häni has lived in Arbon TG since 1990 .
