Gattenhofen is a desert on the Urselbach , west of the train station of Oberursel (Taunus) . The settlement was first mentioned in a document in the Eppstein fiefdom register in 1250 or 1260 and incorporated into Oberursel in the 15th or 16th century. 1438 it is mentioned for the last time in the wisdom . It belonged to the parish of Oberursel, the residents did not enjoy city rights . The jurisdiction lay with the Eppstein district court . In 1619 the settlement was completely demolished.

Today the street name Gattenhöfer Weg and the field name Gattenhöfer Loch are reminiscent of the settlement.

Gattenhöfer mill

The Gattenhöfer mill was the oldest of the Oberursel mills, built before 1450 by order of Eberhard von Eppstein , although a mill is mentioned as early as 1351 . She operated the town's first copper hammer at the end of the 15th century . Before that it was already a fulling mill and paper mill , and until the 19th century it was also a grinding mill . The mill was destroyed in the Thirty Years War , but then rebuilt. The last operator, Bostik GmbH , a manufacturer of adhesives and sealing compounds , closed the plant in 1993, and the site has been largely fallow ever since . Office buildings, a hotel and a kindergarten were built on parts of the site.
