Bambi Awards 1959

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 11th Bambi award took place on March 15, 1959 in the Black Forest Hall in Karlsruhe . The prices refer to the year 1958.

The award

In 1959, too, there was little that was new among the award winners in the usual drama categories. Ruth Leuwerik won the national category for the second time after 1953 , this time ahead of Liselotte Pulver . The same succeeded OW Fischer , the Horst Buchholz referred to second place; In 1957 and 1958 it was the other way around. In the international categories, Gina Lollobrigida won for the third time in a row, this time ahead of Audrey Hepburn and Brigitte Bardot . Tony Curtis , who won ahead of Rock Hudson and Jean Marais , received his first Bambi. Almost 175,000 readers of the Film Revue took part in the survey .

For the first time in 1959 Bambis were awarded for the best young actors. These were determined through a survey in the film journal . The Bambis went to Hansjörg Felmy and Sabine Sinjen .

Freddy Quinn

The winners list also names Freddy Quinn as the winner of an unspecified Bambi for this year . Since the Bambi in 1959 was still a pure film award and Freddy Quinn had not yet had sufficiently significant film appearances (the first - Freddy, the guitar and the sea - premiered about a month later), and also all the expected awards are covered, it seems this is very unlikely. The Freddy Quinn Archive also only records two Bambis for 1960 and 1961 .
