The award

In 1961, too, there was little new in the awards for the best actors. In the national categories Ruth Leuwerik (ahead of Liselotte Pulver and Nadja Tiller ) defended her victory from the previous year as did OW Fischer (ahead of Hansjörg Felmy and Heinz Rühmann ). Even Rock Hudson , at least this time sent his mother to the ceremony, defended his victory in the international category. Came to the places Tony Curtis and Jean Marais . There was only a changing of the guard in the Best Actress International category . Sophia Loren relegated last year's winner Gina Lollobrigida to second place. It was followed by Doris Day and Elizabeth Taylor . In the junior categories, both Karin Baal and Helmut Griem were able to win a Bambi for the first time. Also new in 1961 were the special Bambis for longstanding services. They went to Annie Rosar and Willy Birgel .
