Bambi Awards 1996

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 48th Bambi Awards took place on October 27, 1996 in the Gewandhaus in Leipzig .

The award

Peter Alexander received a Bambi for his life's work. It was his tenth and last Bambi - only Heinz Rühmann had more at 12. The honorary bambi went to the transplant surgeon Professor Jochen Hoyer , who donated a kidney to one of his patients. He wanted to advertise more organ donations and show that the risks for the donor with kidney donations are low. In doing so, however, he also intervened in the discussions about the moral side of living donations (keyword “organ trade”). In addition, this type of organ donation for the benefit of a stranger was already punishable a short time later.
