Hans Meiser is the name of a talk show that was broadcast in the afternoon program of the private television station RTL in the 1990s .

History and effect

The eponymous program presented by the presenter Hans Meiser was the first so-called afternoon talk show on German television. Hans Meiser's first broadcast was on September 14, 1992 at 4 p.m. The great success of this show - at peak times it had over 40% market share - led to a flood of talk shows in the afternoon programs of several German TV stations. RTL alone had up to five such programs in its program at peak times.

content

As in many talk shows that were started later, Hans Meiser also dealt mainly with trivial everyday topics of mostly unknown people.

End of broadcast

After the popularity of afternoon talk shows had declined noticeably at the turn of the millennium, RTL withdrew more and more of these programs from its program. After the talk show Birte Karalus was canceled , the programs Bärbel Schäfer and Hans Meiser were broadcast one hour earlier from September 4, 2000. Hans Meiser ran on the slot at 3 p.m. for only six months until the last edition of the program was broadcast on March 16, 2001.

With around 1,700 episodes, Hans Meiser is one of the longest running German talk shows.

Awards

The show Hans Meiser received several prestigious awards in 1993: Golden Camera , Golden Cable , Bambi and the audience lion from RTL.
