Bambi Awards 2012

The 64th Bambi Awards took place on November 22, 2012 for the second time after 2007 in the CCD Congress Center in Düsseldorf . It was broadcast live on ARD .

Moderation and visual participation

As in previous years, there was no clear moderation in 2012 either. The greeting took Celine Dion , who also had the opening show act sung. She got a Bambi herself (for entertainment ), just like Jan Josef Liefers (audience Bambi) , who ended the award after his two laudations (for Joachim Fuchsberger and his wife Gundel ).

2.61 million viewers saw the Bambi Awards, which corresponds to a market share of 9.3%. In the previous year it was 6 million.

The 2012 audience Bambi was about films. The nominees were The Hunt for the Amber Room , The Nanny , The Revenge of the Wandering Whore and The Tower . The Bambi went to Jan Josef Liefers , Claudia Michelsen , Nadja Uhl , Sebastian Urzendowsky and Götz Schubert for Der Turm.

Non-celebrity winners

In 2012, the Bambi for Silent Heroes went to Ruth Pfau , a doctor and religious sister who fought against leprosy in Pakistan from 1960 until her death in 2017 , both on a medical and political level.

Tina K. was honored for moral courage . Her brother Jonny was beaten to death in October 2012 when he tried to help a friend. Since then she has campaigned against violence and exclusion. The Rabbi Daniel Alter was awarded the Bambi for integration. After he was beaten up on the street in Berlin , he advocates peaceful coexistence and dialogue between religions.

Reviews

In her review in the Süddeutsche Zeitung , Friederike Zoe Grasshoff said that the Bambi award, which wanted to be “the most glamorous evening of the year”, was “a loveless series of awards, which for the most part are one thing above all else: any.” She spoke also of "boring movie clips and many a star that you first have to google before you discover their celebrities." All in all, she found the award boring, discouraged, routine and rehearsed.

In Der Spiegel , Arno Frank came to a similar conclusion. “It was an evening like an afternoon at the hairdresser's. Three hours of waiting, paralyzing boredom - and only one single colorful magazine at hand.
