The award

The Bambis were also awarded in Karlsruhe in 1956, but this time in the Black Forest Hall, in contrast to the previous year . There the rush of fans was increased compared to 1955. Participation in the vote had also reached a new record with around 76,000 readers. In contrast, there was little new for the Bambi winners for acting. As in the previous year, the national prizes went to Maria Schell and OW Fischer , but the names of the second were new: Romy Schneider and Karlheinz Böhm . Ulla Jacobsson won the international actress category . But she was prevented; Karlheinz Böhm accepted the Bambi on his behalf. Jean Marais won again in the Actor International category . This made him the first winner in this category to receive the Bambi at the awards gala.
