Bambi Awards 1997
The 49th Bambi -Verleihung took place on 25 October 1997 in the exhibition in Cologne instead. Carmen Nebel moderated the gala.
The award
In 1997 Johannes Heesters won the Bambi for his life's work at the age of 93; it was his fourth (after 1967 as an “honored artist of German film”, the anniversary bambi from 1987 and the minibambi from 1990 ). But he said his life's work was not finished yet and was - at least as far as the Bambis are concerned - right. An honorary bambi followed in 2003 , a surprise bambi in 2007 and an honorary or special bambi every year up to and including 2011 , about one month before his death.
On behalf of all the "savior of the Oderbruch" at the 1997 Central European Flood and especially for the armed forces who received paramedic of the army Inga Tüxen, Captain Hans-Werner Kern, Corporal of the Air Force Marco frost and sailor Dirk Dankert the Charity Bambi.
The science library went to Heinrich Wänke , then director of the cosmochemistry department at the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry in Mainz , and his colleague Rudolf Rieder . The alpha X-ray spectrometer (APXS) developed by Rieder analyzed Martian rocks as part of the Mars Pathfinder mission. An improved version of this spectrometer was also included in the Mars rovers Spirit and Opportunity .

- ↑ It is true that several sources state that this was the 50th Bambi award, and assuming that the first was in 1948 and one took place every year, one would also come to 50. The Bambi award in 1966 was canceled without replacement, so this was only the 49th (the 1954 award, which had been “left out” due to the postponement to spring, was offset by the postponement of 1984/85, which led to two awards in 1984).
