Venue

Since Karl Fritz , the founder of the Bambi, came from Karlsruhe , the Bambi was awarded there since 1955. At the end of 1962, responsibility for the award passed to Burda . Burda was skeptical about Karlsruhe as a rental location, but initially stayed there as a tradition. In 1964, Franz Burda took over the organization of the award, brought in his own ideas and probably put himself very much in the spotlight. This led to criticism from the Badische Neuesten Nachrichten , which Burda resented. He then told the local press: “The deer is turning. It won't come back to Karlsruhe anymore. Karlsruhe journalists drove it out. ”In fact, the anniversary ceremony in 1998 was the first to take place again in Karlsruhe afterwards, under the direction of Dieter Pröttel .

Anniversary bambi

On the 50th anniversary, the first prizewinner, Marika Rökk, received an “Jubiläumsbambi”. In line with this, Jean Marais, who was undisputedly the first prizewinner at the time, was to give the laudatory speech. However, he canceled, citing his advanced age and health problems. The laudation was given by Pierre Brice .

Honorary Bambi

In 1998, the honorary Bambi was completely under the impression of the ICE accident in Eschede five months earlier. The following were awarded:

  • The then senior district director of Celle Klaus Rathert. He led the rescue operation.
  • Ewald Hüls, at that time a trauma surgeon at the General Hospital in Celle and medical director of the rescue service in the disaster management team.
  • the passenger Sybille Czichon, who was 13 at the time of the accident and who, despite her own injuries, provided first aid and support until she felt faint.
