Gabi Bauer
Gabi Bauer (born July 21, 1962 in Celle , Lower Saxony ) is a German journalist and TV presenter for ARD .
Life
Gabi Bauer studied English , Romance studies , philosophy and education in Hamburg , Hanover , Grenoble ( France ) and Kalamazoo ( USA ). Although she never volunteered and her application to the Henri-Nannen-Schule was rejected during student days, she later became a journalistically highly acclaimed and popular “Mrs. Topics of the day ”.
Her journalistic career began in 1988 after her state examination as a freelancer at radio ffn in Hanover . She later became a permanent editor there and then deputy news chief. She then switched to NDR and moderated the programs Mittagskurier and Abendkurier on NDR 2 .
In 1992 the jump to television followed. Here she moderated the regional magazine Hallo Niedersachsen and worked as a reporter for Tagesschau and Tagesthemen . From January to September 1997 she presented the first moderated Tagesschau issues in the afternoon. This commitment finally brought her to the topics of the day , for the moderation of which she received many prizes such as the Bambi , the Telestar , the Hanns-Joachim-Friedrichs-Prize or the Golden Lion .
She quit work in April 2001 because she was pregnant with twins . In spring 2002 she started the talk show Gabi Bauer on ARD, which apart from a few very successful programs (e.g. with Jürgen Möllemann , Queen Silvia of Sweden ) only achieved mediocre audience response. Gabi Bauer withdrew from this format at the beginning of 2004. In 2005 the NDR tried a new program concept with paroli , which Bauer presented together with Susanne Stichler , who was responsible for audience participation in the studio. This format was discontinued after six months.
In October 2004 it was announced that Gabi Bauer - together with the editor-in-chief of ARD Hartmann von der Tann - will also be presenting the interview series Show your color . It is conceived as a special broadcast that comes to the ARD program on current occasions.
From January 6, 2006 to January 30, 2019 Gabi Bauer moderated the ARD night magazine . She then switched back to NDR -TV as an editor and author in the culture and documentation program area. Bauer has been a lecturer at the Hanover University of Applied Sciences since the winter semester of 2016 in the master’s program in television journalism .
Gabi Bauer has been committed to the work and goals of the Ein Chance für Kinder foundation , of which she is the patron , since November 2012 . The foundation, based in Hanover, is committed to preventing child neglect and child abuse.
