The award
The Bambis for the most popular actors were the same as last year. In the national categories Ruth Leuwerik (ahead of Liselotte Pulver and Nadja Tiller ) and OW Fischer (ahead of Heinz Rühmann and Peter van Eyck ) won both prizes for the fourth time in a row and for the fifth time in total. The international categories again went to Sophia Loren (ahead of Gina Lollobrigida , Doris Day and Elizabeth Taylor ) and Rock Hudson (ahead of Anthony Perkins and Charlton Heston ). For the first time Rock Hudson accepted the Bambi personally, but OW Fischer was missing. The bambi for the Honored Artists went to Paula Wessely and Heinz Rühmann, the young bambis to the later married couple Götz George and Loni von Friedl .
1962 was the last Bambi award that Karl Fritz was in charge of. At the end of 1962 he sold the magazine Film-Revue to Franz Burda . Afterwards the Bambi awards were organized by Burda .
