The 40th Bambi Awards took place on December 15, 1988 in the ARRI cinema in Munich .

The award

The Charity Bambi went to Monika Hohlmeier in 1988 for her commitment to the Marianne Strauss Foundation, which she founded together with her brothers. Katarina Witt was the first citizen of the GDR to receive a Bambi.
