McCarthy Valley

The McCarthy Valley is an icy and 5 km long valley in the West Antarctic Marie Byrd Land . In the northwestern part of the Long Hills in the Horlick Mountains , it lies between Peters Butte and Todd Ridge .

The United States Geological Survey mapped it using the United States Navy's own surveys and aerial photographs from 1958 to 1960. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1962 after James E. McCarthy, who was an electronics technician for meteorological equipment at Byrd Station in 1962 1960.
