The dolmen of Gaulstown ( Irish Cnoc an Ghallaigh , "Hill of the Gaul") is a portal tomb , which about 8.7 km southwest of Waterford in County Waterford in Ireland in the Copper Coast Geopark, in an area of smallest villages, west of the R682 and Lisnakill Cross is located on Map 75 (Discovery Series). A single-lane, unpaved side path (with a gate) leads 100 m south to the dolmen, which is located behind another gate. In the British Isles, portal tombs are megalithic systems in which two equally high, upright stones with a door stone in between form the front of a chamber, which is covered with a sometimes huge capstone.

The Portat Tomb consists of three upright supporting stones which, together with the approximately 4.5 m long, 2.55 m wide and approximately one meter thick, sloping and protruding capstone, the lateral filling stones and the door stone form the chamber. The portal stones in the east are about two meters high, the rear, also bearing stone (three-point support) is, as usual, a little lower. The two middle side stones and the door stone do not reach the cap stone.

The stone box

A Bronze Age stone box eight meters away in the southwest may have been located within the same, completely eroded hill. The "Gaulstown-Cist" has a capstone 2.2 meters long and 1.7 meters wide. Cremations or burials in stone boxes were often accompanied by a single vessel placed near the head. In some cases they were placed within a cairn as a secondary burial - hence the proximity to the Tomb portal.

To the northwest of Tramore are the megalithic complexes of Ballynageeragh , Knockeen and 3.6 km south of the Passage Tomb of Matthewstown .

The 3.7 m high menhir of Ballymote stands 1.7 km southwest of Gaulstown on a ridge,
