Gauricus is an impact crater in the south of the front of the moon , south of Mare Nubium , south of Pitatus crater (moon crater) and east of Wurzelbauer . The crater is very badly eroded, the interior is largely flat.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Italian bishop and astronomer Lucas Gauricus .
