history

Gavilanes (dt. Sperber ) was in the summer of 2002 with the acquisition of the second division license of Toros Neza founded. Under the direction of the Uruguayan coach Eduardo Mario Acevedo , the team, whose most famous players included the Uruguayan goalkeeper Robert Siboldi , his compatriot Nelson Laluz , who played in midfield, and the Brazilian striker Marco Antonio de Almeida , played a half-season in the second-rate Primera División 'A' . However, it was not a success story, because with only nine points from 19 games in Apertura 2002 , the Gavilanes were the only team in the second division that could only achieve a single-digit score in the ten years between summer 1996 and summer 2006. In addition to their only win on matchday three (5-0 against Cruz Azul Hidalgo ), the Gavilanes scored six draws and lost the other twelve games. The team withdrew during the winter break, so that the second half of the 2002/03 season was played with only 19 teams.
