The Ge-be-on-e-quet Lake (also Ge-Be-On-Equat Lake ) is a small lake in northern Minnesota .
It is located in St. Louis County near the Canadian border.
The roughly cross-shaped lake has an area of 2.67 km² and is up to 16.8 m deep. It is drained into Lac la Croix via Ge-be-on-e-quet Creek and Pocket Creek . The most important tributary is the Hag Creek, which flows into the south-western bay of the lake, there are also tributaries from the neighboring lakes Charm Lake and Green Lake. There are some very small, nameless islets in Ge-be-on-e-quet Lake.
ecology
Due to its location in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness , a specially protected wilderness area , the Ge-be-on-e-quet Lake is largely untouched by human influences. Canoeists can access the lake via portages .
The lake is regularly reviewed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources . A fishing survey by gillnets in June 2009 recorded six species: Herring vendace ( Coregonus clupeaformis ), pike ( Esox lucius ), American whitefish ( Coregonus artedi ), eyeglasses ( Sander vitreus ), American perch ( Perca flavescens ) and the sucker carp Catostomus commersonii . Small bass ( Micropterus dolomieu ) were not caught in the nets in 2009, but were found in other studies.
Fish migration from the deeper Lac La Croix is prevented by rapids at the only lake outlet.
