aims

GeSRU Academics would like to strengthen the career development and research performance of young urologists in Germany . It offers young academics at the beginning of their academic career the opportunity to network nationally on the basis of topic-specific research focuses and personal career goals. The projects that emerged from the network should lead to the implementation of studies with subsequent publication in scientific journals.

GeSRU Academics focuses on:

  • Internal networking: Within the framework of topic-focused networking, there are twelve working groups on specific urological issues, which consist of a research group leader who has qualified as a professor, a chair holder with mentoring function and young scientists. With goal-focused networking, the young scientist has the opportunity to network with like-minded people with regard to content-related goals and careers. This applies to topics such as doctorates , habilitation or the acquisition of third-party funding.
  • External networking: By working with urology associations and associations from other specialist areas, multicentre and interdisciplinary cooperation is to be promoted. GeSRU Academics cooperates with the German Society for Urology (DGU) as well as the Working Group Urological Research (AUF) of the DGU, the European Association of Urology (EAU) and the Alliance of Young Doctors.
  • Professional scientific support: The GeSRU Academics offer statistical advice, professional support in the creation of questionnaires , cooperation with proofreading agencies and the review of journal articles.

structure

The GeSRU Academics network is a project of the German Society of Residents in Urology eV (GeSRU eV). Any scientist or young scientist researching in the field of urology can apply . The main application criterion is the motivation for research and the potential for interaction in the network. Membership in GeSRU eV is a prerequisite for a successful application. GeSRU Academics has a total of around 150 members. The executive committee consists of two research group members, two research group leaders, two chairmen, the GeSRU eV chairman and two advisory boards from the working group of the chair holders .

The GeSRU Academics annual meeting takes place regularly in the second week of January. Individual events for the individual working groups are also organized in the summer months. In addition, further meetings are held as part of the DGU and EAU annual congresses.
