history

In 1927, Chancellor Prelate Ignaz Seipel commissioned the construction of a chapel next to his mother's birthplace in Weitenegg 16. He donated the house and the chapel to the women's order Caritas Socialis . The order looked after a kindergarten there until Austria was annexed to Hitler's Germany in 1938. From 1945 to 1957 the Caritas sisters were back in Weitenegg. The house and chapel have been privately owned by the Anna and Johann Karl family since 1958.
