Geesow has been part of the town of Gartz (Oder) in the Uckermark district in Brandenburg since December 31, 2002 . The border with Poland runs three kilometers to the east.
The 42.98 hectare dry grassland Geesow nature reserve is located southeast, directly adjacent to the site.
history
Until 1939 Geesow formed a municipality in the Randow district in the Prussian province of Pomerania . When the Randow district was dissolved in 1939, Geesow joined the Greifenhagen district . Geesow had 412 inhabitants in 1925, 520 inhabitants in 1933 and 446 inhabitants in 1939.
After the Second World War Geesow was in the Soviet occupation zone and later in the GDR .
Architectural monuments
- The church in the Breite Straße is a monument.
- The watermill (Salveymühle 3) on Salveybach consists of a mill building with a flow, cutting mill , residential building, blacksmith's shop with old parts , miller's house and servants' house (ruins). The ensemble with paving of the path and courtyard, the mill reservoir with dam and rifle weir and the bridge over the Salveybach are listed buildings.
