Jean-Pierre Posca (born March 10, 1952 in Colombier-Fontaine , † January 1, 2010 ) was a French football player .

Career

As a youth player, Posca, who came from eastern France, joined the regional professional club FC Sochaux , where he came on some missions in the second team during the 1970/71 season, which was in the second division at that time. In 1971 he was appointed by coach Paul Barret as a substitute for Albert Vanucci in the first division team; in a team that was one of the strongest in the country at the time, he played no more than a minor role until he moved up to the first team after poor performance of the team in the 1973/74 season. After the departure of important competitors Posca injured himself in 1974 and had to fight with his teammate Jean-Paul Pfertzel for some time before he could secure his regular place and defend it over the course of further years.

The late 1970s brought the club mediocre results until Posca with the team in 1980 reached a second place in the table and thus the runner-up in the country. He also qualified for the second time after 1976 for participation in the UEFA Cup , where he moved into the semi-finals with Sochaux and failed there against AZ Alkmaar . However, after the good international performance, a strong squad formed, through which the player lost his regular place in the course of the 1982/83 season. He was able to fight back this place before he was sent to the reserve team in 1984. For this he ran for a year and left Sochaux in 1985 at the age of 33 after 358 first division games and nine goals, as well as seven second division games and further inserts for the reserve selection.

He continued his career with third division Avignon Football , where he was coached by his former teammate Robert Pintenat ; In 1986 he finally turned his back on football after a year in the third division. The ex-professional, who, together with René Gardien, took third place among the players at FC Sochaux with the most league appearances for the club, later worked as the head of a company that sold swimming pools. Posca suffered from cancer and died in 2010 after a long illness at the age of 57.
