Robert Pintenat

Robert Pintenat (born May 1, 1948 in Paris , † August 22, 2008 in Bayonne ) was a French football player and coach .

Player career

The goal-scoring center forward began his senior career in 1969 at the first division club FC Rouen . From 1970 he played for Red Star Paris and, after its relegation, in the 1973/74 season for Olympique Nîmes . Occasionally loaned to FC Sochaux , he played a few more games for Olympique in 1974/75 before returning to Sochaux, where Robert Pintenat had his most successful year in the 1975/76 season: his team finished third in the championship , himself Fifth place among the top scorers in the league with 21 goals and played three full international matches for France between March and May 1976in which he also scored a goal. After a year at AS Nancy (1978/79) he was committed to the second division FC Toulouse , with whom he returned to the top division in 1982. In 1983/84 he let his career end as a player-coach at the lower class Olympique Avignon .

Overall, Robert Pintenat could not win a title in his playing career, but he has played 298 games in Division 1 for his clubs and scored 103 goals.

Coaching

He then took on the coaching post in Avignon (until 1986) and then worked for six years in Gabon : he led the US Mbila Nzambi from Libreville to win the national championship in 1988 and also won the national cup with this club in 1987 and 1991. In 1991/92 he coached Gabon's national team , then returned to France, where he was still working for SR Saint-Dié and Entente Nyons-Condorcet from 1994 .

In August 2008, Robert Pintenat died after a long illness at the age of 60.
