Umut Dilan Bozok (born September 19, 1996 in Saint-Avold ) is a Turkish - French football player . He has been under contract with the traditional French club Olympique Nîmes since 2017 and plays for the Turkish U-21 national team .
Career
society
Bozok's Turkish parents settled in Lorraine when they were young . He grew up in Saint-Avold on the German border and had joined a local football club as a child before joining the youth academy (Center de Formation) of FC Metz . On February 1, 2014, he made his debut for the second team of FC Metz in the 1: 2 game of the CFA2 (fifth division) in the away game against Thaon. This was his only use this season; Bozok rose with the team in the CFA (fourth division), in which he came on ten missions and relegated back to the CFA 2. In the 1: 3 away defeat on the second match day against the second representative of AS Nancy , Bozok scored his first goal in the men's area on August 30 with the goal to 1: 0. This season he played in 21 games in which he scored twelve goals.
In summer 2016 he moved to the national (third division) to GS Consolat . On August 5, 2016 Bozok played for the first time for the club from Marseille in the 2: 3 away defeat on the first matchday against Bastia-Borgo. In 31 games he scored 18 goals. In 2017 Bozok moved to Ligue 2 for Olympique Nîmes and made his professional football debut on July 28, 2017 with his substitution in the 60th minute in the 0-1 defeat on the first match day against Stade Reims . At the end of the season Nîmes rose thanks to Bozok's 24 league goals - he was top scorer - as a runner-up behind Reims in Ligue 1 . In the following season, Umut Bozok lost his regular place and was only 14 times in the starting line-up in 25 top division games, in which he scored two goals. He then returned to Ligue 2, where he joined FC Lorient . There, too, Bozok was only a substitute in his first 2019/20 season . Due to the Covid-19 pandemic , the season was counted after the 28th matchday and with this table position, whereby the Merlus were first in the table in the championship and the promotion to Ligue 1. Bozok has played 16 league games in which he scored two goals.
National team
Bozok has Turkish and French citizenship and therefore had the choice between the Turkish and French national teams. On November 28, 2012, he made his debut for the Turkish U-17 national team in the 4-3 defeat in the USA on the occasion of the Nike tournament against Portugal. and came to a total of five missions for this age group. He had his only appearance for the U-18s in Antalya in the goalless draw on November 16, 2013 against the Netherlands on the occasion of a four-nation tournament. On March 28, 2017, Bozok made his debut in a 4-0 win in the friendly against Azerbaijan in Istanbul for the Turkish U-21 national team .
