Mathieu Duhamel (born July 12, 1984 in Mont-Saint-Aignan ) is a French football player . The striker is under contract with the Italian second division club Foggia Calcio .

Career

Starts in the fourth division

Duhamel was admitted to the Center technique national Fernand-Sastre , also known as INF Clairefontaine, at the age of 13 , but decided to return home after two years and therefore moved to the youth department of Rouen FC . In 2003 he moved to the nearby fourth division US Quevilly , where he was accepted into the first team. The player, who was still used as a left-back at the time, was initially only used sporadically. Thanks to a new coach, he was now used on the offensive, was able to improve his performance there and played more and more regularly. After showing a decent performance in a game against FC Rouen, he applied for this in 2006 when his contract with Quevilly was just about to expire. He received a contract with the fourth-class club, moved up to the starting line-up due to the injury of a team-mate and scored twelve goals in the 2006/07 season.

Time in the third division

As a result of his good performance, he moved to third division SO Romorantin at the end of the season . Although he was seeded in the team, he had to contend with edema for eight months . This went so far that he temporarily skipped training and only came to the games until he was treated at the end of the season. As a result, he could not prevent the team from relegating despite the nine goals he scored under these conditions. Because he signed a contract with Stade Laval in the summer of 2008 , Duhamel remained in the third division. With his eleven goals, he made a decisive contribution to the promotion at the end of the 2008/09 season, but was not kept against the will of the president and most of those responsible because the coach spoke out against him. The reason he cited problems with the player's character. Instead, Duhamel signed with the US Créteil , where he was able to improve his performance from the previous season with 17 goals in 29 league appearances.

Career as a professional

He left Créteil like the previous stations after a year when he received an offer from the second division ES Troyes AC in 2010 . At Troyes he made his second division and professional debut on August 6, 2010 at the age of 26, when he came on in the 78th minute in the 0: 1 against OC Vannes . After that, he mostly played from the start, but did not get beyond a single second division in 13 games. Accordingly, it was awarded for the rest of the season during the 2010/11 winter break. Duhamel spent his loan with league rivals FC Metz , for whom he scored nine goals in 18 games. Based on this record, Metz decided to keep the player under contract. After a total of 10 goals in his first year in the second division, he scored as many goals in the 2011/12 season. Despite everything, Duhamel had to accept relegation to the third division with Metz. However, he did not have to return to the league, which he had left two years earlier, as he was signed by SM Caen for the new season and thus remained in the second division. A transfer fee of 800,000 euros was due for the change. Even with the first division relegated he received his regular place and was able to continue his successes in front of the goal from previous years. Despite his 13 goals and seventh place on the top scorer list, he could not help his team to rise. In the course of the 2013/14 season he increased to 24 goals, made it to first place on the list and became the top scorer in the second division. He also made his contribution to the promotion of his team to the top division.

On August 9, 2014, the now 30-year-old striker, who had to work his way up from the fourth division, made his long-awaited first division debut when he was on the field from the start in an encounter against FC Évian Thonon Gaillard and more could contribute two hits to the 3-0 success of his team.

On February 2, 2015 Duhamel was loaned to league rivals FC Évian Thonon Gaillard as part of a transfer exchange with Nicolas Benezet . With this he had to accept the fall in the second division at the end of the season, whereas Caen was able to hold on to the first division. He decided a little later for his own return to the second division when he returned Caen in August 2015, the back and the also in Normandy settled club Le Havre AC joined. He mostly had a regular place and established himself with the team in the top group of the league. The last three meetings of the season 2015/16 were won without his participation and the promotion was ultimately missed with the same number of points and the same goal difference only due to the lower number of goals scored against FC Metz .

In the summer of 2017 Duhamel then moved to league rival US Quevilly . But even during the winter break, he left the club again and switched to Foggia Calcio by Italy in the series B .
