Eugeniusz Faber (born April 6, 1939 in Chorzów ) is a former Polish football player from Upper Silesia .

life and career

Faber was born in 1939 in Chorzów (German: Königshütte ) in Upper Silesia . He began playing professional football at Ruch Chorzów , where he was in the professional squad from 1959. In the same year he was also part of the Polish national football team for the first time , which he was to belong to until 1969. In 1960 and 1968 Faber and Ruch became Polish football champions. In 1971, after 284 league games in which he scored over 100 goals, he finally moved to the French RC Lens . For his new club, he completed a total of 104 league games, in which he came on 44 goals. In the 1972/73 season he was able to celebrate promotion to the French first division with his club. Shortly before the end of his career, he was with the RC Lens also in the final of the Coupe de France 1974/75 , which was lost 2-0 to AS Saint-Étienne .
