description

A round arched gate made of sandstone between the houses at Görresstrasse 6 and 8 leads to this large historic vaulted cellar in the house at Görresstrasse 10. The year 1666 is carved into the top curve of the archway, and a sundial once adorned the archway.

The house Görresstraße 6 counts Helmut Schmolz to the "most impressive farm houses in the old Sontheim" which were indeed "wide and ponderous in character", but "high peaking". House no. 6 was built in 1599, with the date of construction carved on the door arch on the left. The upper floors of the half-timbered house protrude far and rest on strong, differently designed console stones, whereby the middle console stone is decorated with foliage. On the gable there are heads on the left and right of the entablature that have been carved into it.

The very narrow, long house at Görresstrasse 8, erected along the street along the eaves, was once the front building of the rural homestead . The upper floor of the house at Görresstrasse 8 is half-timbered and cantilevered over a ground floor that is solidly walled with sandstones. The gable-facing attic above the upper floor is also prominent.

In the rear part of the courtyard is the house at Görresstrasse 10, where the cellar Görresstrasse has been preserved originally from a homestead from 1600. The cellar is equipped with light niches and a wide staircase on which wine barrels were once brought down. House no. 10 was the home of the previously closed homestead, where taxidermist Ludwig Reichert had set up his workshop in the 1950s .
