Geiselroda

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Geiselroda (also Geyßelroda , Geyselroda ) is a desert in the forest between Pockau-Lengefeld and Zöblitz in the Erzgebirge district in Saxony . It is located on the Pockau-Lengefelder municipality east of the state road 224 not far from the confluence of the Knesenbach in the Schwarze Pockau.

history

The former Vorwerk von Zöblitz was burned down in the Thirty Years War and never rebuilt afterwards. Wilhelm Steinbach reports on the destruction in 1750:

The Hüttenfeld or Geiselroda, where the head forester lived in front of it, but was made into a pile of stones in 1633 by the imperial rulers at the Holk invasion of Meissen, and of which only a few rudera can be seen.

In a document dated September 25, 1697, the "Forwerg Geißelroda" is described as "completely demolished", "and the fields that belonged to it were anjezo with wood". Christian Lehmann reports in his work Historischer Schauplatz , published in 1699, of their natural peculiarities in the Meißnischen Ober-Ertzgebirge "The Holtz on the hollow road has firs / spruces and beeches under the wagon Geiselroda". As an “archaeological monument”, the destroyed Vorwerk was the destination of an archaeological hike in the town of Zöblitz in 2011, jointly organized by the State Office for Archeology of Saxony and the Erzgebirgskreis as a monument protection authority. According to the historical register of Saxony, the Vorwerk was still referred to as "Geiselroda" in 1631, after which only a "Holtz am hohlen Weg bey Geiselrode" is mentioned in 1699 and "Die Geiselrödische Leithe" in the same year. The historical place name book of Saxony reports on the different forms of the name.
