List of grape varieties

The rootstock ' Geisenheim 26 ' comes from the early days of rootstock breeding and belongs to the group of Vinifera x American crosses. The aim of this cross was to improve the compatibility of the rootstock with the European varieties. This was achieved, but the phylloxera resistance decreased very much. Because of the insufficient resistance to the root aphid , it is no longer used as a rootstock.

ancestry

Cross of 'Schiava grossa' (Syn. ' Trollinger ') × Vitis riparia at the " Plant Physiological Experimental Station " in Geisenheim am Rhein.

  • Shoot tip : semi-open with no to very little hair, brown-green to red-brown, shiny (very similar to vinifera )

  • Shoots: intense red-brown, glabrous
  • Flower : female, pseudo-hermaphrodite
  • Grape : medium-sized, round, blue berries
