Vegetable cutter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A vegetable cutter is a non-electric kitchen appliance that can be used to cut solid vegetables such as cucumbers , potatoes or radishes into different thicknesses and shapes (slices, sticks or cubes). The device can also be used to cut fruit , cheese and sausage .

functionality

There are different vegetable cutter models that differ in technology and handling.

Some vegetable cutters are very similar to the vegetable slicer in terms of handling . These models consist of an exchangeable knife insert that is attached to a horizontal cutting surface. With interchangeable blade sets, different cutting shapes can be realized in a short time. In contrast to the vegetable slicer, however, there is a collecting container on the underside of the vegetable slicer in which the cut vegetables are collected. The risk of injury is relatively high due to the vegetables being moved back and forth quickly, which is why a so-called product holder is often included in the scope of delivery.

With other models (often referred to as an onion cutter), the vegetables are placed on a cutting insert and fixed by closing a lid. The cut vegetables are also collected in a collecting container. With this active principle, it is also possible to quarter or eighth fruit and vegetables. The risk of injury is significantly lower by using the flap.
