Gen (also: Ge , Gen-Gbe , Mina-Gen , Mina , Popo , Guin , Gebe ) is the language of the Mina , an ethnic group that lives mainly in Togo and also in Benin . Well-known dialects are Anexo, Gliji, Agoi and Gen. Gen is one of the Kwa languages .

Overall, the number of speakers of the gene is estimated at around 358,900. In Benin, Gen speak approx. 158,000 (2001), in Togo approx. 200,900.

In Togo, the gene speakers live in the south-eastern part of Togo in the Maritime region . In Benin they live mainly in the regions Mono and Atlantique .
