Gene Dinwiddie

Gene Dinwiddie (* 19th September 1936 in Louisville , Kentucky ; † 11 January 2002 in La Puente ) was an American blues - saxophonist who primarily as a member of the Blues Band Butterfield became known.

Life

Dinwiddie had been playing jazz and blues since the 1950s until he joined the Butterfield Blues Band in 1967. With this he stayed until the separation in 1971 and afterwards he was still a member of the follow-up band Full Moon .

He was also a side member of the James Cotton Blues Band during the 1960s and worked as a studio musician in the 1970s for BB King , Paul Butterfield , Gregg Allman , Melissa Manchester and Jackie Lomax , among others . In the 1990s he continued to work as a session musician, for example he can be heard on Etta James ' Stickin' to My Guns .
