La Puente is a city in Los Angeles County , State of California , United States , with 42,400 inhabitants (2004).

history

The history of the place begins in 1841, when European settlers, coming from New Mexico , founded the "Rancho La Puente".

The city became famous for having the largest walnut factory in the world. Today some museums like the “Workman Museum” and the “Temple Family Homestead Museum” remind of the history of the place.

location

La Puente is about 20 Miles (32 kilometers ) east of downtown Los Angeles in the San Gabriel Valley . It is bordered by Avocado Heights , Industry , South San Jose Hills , Valinda , West Covina, and West Puente Valley .

Famous residents

The Mexican national women's soccer player Renae Cuéllar (* 1990) lives in La Puente.
