history
The Avocado Heights area originally belonged to the land of the San Gabriel Mission. After secularization in Mexico , the land was transferred to John Rowland in 1842 as part of Rancho La Puente . As a result of the execution of a loan debt, the land fell to Elija J. Baldwin in 1879 . In 1911, the area was separated from the ranch as La Fortuna Farms from Baldwin's estate .
