Gene Loves Jezebel is a British rock band that was formed in the early 1980s.

Band history

The band was formed in 1980 by Michael and John Aston, Ian Hudson, Steven Davis and Snowy White as Slav Aryan in Porthcawl, Welsh . In 1981 the Ashton brothers and Hudson moved to London, renamed the band Gene Loves Jezebel (after the American rock'n'roll singer Gene Vincent and his little successful single Jezebel , released in 1961 ) and completed the line-up with the later All-About-Eve singer Julianne Regan on bass and James Chater on drums. Influenced by Gothic Rock , the band recorded four albums from 1983 to 1990, which were released by Situation Two and its mother label Beggars Banquet . The band had their greatest hit parade with the album Discover , which reached number 32 in the British charts in 1986. Meanwhile, the band around the twins Jay and Michael Aston has split into two factions, both of which appear under the name of Gene Loves Jezebel and have produced other albums.
