The General-Fellgiebel-Kaserne is a barracks of the Bundeswehr near the Pöcking district of Maising . It was built on the site of the old Maxhof manor .
Surname
The barracks was named after Erich Fellgiebel (1886–1944), who was sentenced to death by the People's Court in 1944 after the unsuccessful assassination attempt on Hitler and was executed in Berlin-Plötzensee .
history
The barracks was built in 1959 and houses parts of the Bundeswehr Information Technology School (formerly: Telecommunications School and Army Technical College for Electrical Engineering ). The battalion (LLFmLehrBtl) 9 was stationed at the site until the early 1990s and the training company (GebFmLehrKp) 8 until 2003 . By 2016, lecture halls , functional, staff and accommodation buildings for the participants in the courses are to be built here for the planned nationwide central training facility for soldiers in the army , air force and navy working in the telecommunications service or in the IT sector .
In 1970, 87 pistols, 18 submachine guns, 2 machine guns and 2 flare guns were stolen during a break-in in the barracks equipment store.
