Maising is a district of the municipality of Pöcking in the Upper Bavarian district of Starnberg . It is a small village originally characterized by agriculture, which has recently been significantly enlarged by residential developments. In the village, located on a hill, is the branch church of St. Bartholomew , which houses frescoes from the late Romanesque period .
About 500 meters west of Maising is the protected lake Maisinger See , a bird paradise with reeds and large areas of moorland. On the north-eastern path towards Söcking is the Maisinger Gorge , a deep cut in the landscape that was formed by the Maisinger Bach and is classified as a water protection and recreation area. The gorge crosses a road that runs over it on the highest prestressed concrete bridge in the region. In the immediate vicinity of the so-called Maxhof is the small practice area of the General-Fellgiebel-Kaserne .
history
In 1182 four farms and three mills are documented under the name Musingin . They are mentioned in connection with a donation from Bishop Otto II of Bamberg (a native of Andechs - Merano ) to the Canons' Monastery of Dießen . For the year 1809 a population of 86 people, spread over 13 farms, is named.
As a result of the Second World War , the village experienced a sharp increase in population. As part of the regional reform , the independent municipality was transferred to a district of the municipality of Pöcking on January 1, 1978 . A population of 300 was given.
