General Resident (France)

Resident General ( French: Résident général ) designated the highest representatives of France in the former protectorates of Morocco and Tunisia in French North Africa (until 1956), in the protectorate of Madagascar until the annexation in 1897 and in the protectorates of Cambodia , Tonkin and Annam (from the mid-1880s ; later renamed Résident supérieur ).
