Maurice Bompard (born February 11, 1857 in Rodez , † 1936 in Paris ) was a French orientalist painter.

In 1865 his family moved to Marseille . Maurice Bompard studied from 1873 at the Art Academy in Marseille with Dominique Antoine Magaud. He continued his studies at the École des beaux-arts de Paris with Gustave Boulanger and Jules-Joseph Lefebvre . He made his debut in 1878 at the Salon des Artistes Français . In 1882 he received a scholarship that enabled him to visit Germany, Italy, Tunisia and Spain. He married Amélie Perretti in 1889.

He spent the period from March to May 1889 in Biskra in Algeria . From October 1889 to February 1890 he worked in Sidi Okba and in the Khetma oasis. From August to November 1891 he visited El Kantara and again the Khetma oasis. From July 1892 to March 1893 he painted in El Kantara and M'Chounech. In 1893 he became a co-founder of the Société des peintres orientalistes français . From 1894 to 1908, from October to December each year, he painted views of Venice . After 1908 he worked as a freelance artist in Paris.
