General Staff Foundation

The General Staff Foundation was a foundation , by the German Emperor I. Wilhelm was founded.

The law of 31 May 1877, the Emperor received 300,000  marks from the net income of the General Staff published work The German-French war of 1870-71 for the establishment of a foundation. According to the statute of March 21, 1878, the purpose of the General Staff Foundation established from the sum was to use the foundation assets in the interests of the General Staff of the Prussian , Bavarian , Saxon and Württemberg armies

  • to promote military-scientific purposes,
  • to support young and ambitious officers and officials of the aforementioned armies in their profession and
  • to provide temporary support to them or their dependents in the event of losses, illnesses and accidents that are not their fault.

Through the laws of July 12, 1884 and April 12, 1888, the General Staff Foundation was also transferred the net profit in excess of 300,000 marks from the sale of the above work and from all war history publications that were published and still to be published after the law of July 12, 1884.
