The Genesis power plant ( English Genesis Solar Energy Project ), 32 km west of Blythe in Riverside County in the American state of California, is a solar thermal power plant in parabolic trough design . The system, which went online in 2013, has a nominal output of 250 MW and was built by the American company Genesis Solar , a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources. Genesis Solar, LLC now owns the large facility, which extends over 7.9 km².

General

The first section, of the existing two parts, went into operation in November 2013, the second in March 2014 after seven years of project development. The power plant uses 620,000 RP3 -mirror of Flabeg , 1,840 parabolic trough collectors (SCAs), mounted. With an oil (type Therminol VP-1 ) circulating through pipes , which is heated to 390 degrees Celsius by the mirrors, steam is generated via a heat exchanger. Two steam turbines (useful electrical output: 140 MW ) use the steam to drive their own generators to generate electricity. In this way, 88,000 households can be supplied with electricity and avoid around 330,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually. The parabolic troughs of the Senertrough type come from SENER . The plant is air-cooled and therefore uses less water than liquid-cooled CSP power plants.

Energy fed in

The energy fed in by the Solana Generating Station is (values in GWh ).
