Genetics Society of America

The Genetics Society of America (GSA) is a scientific society specializing in genetics in the United States . In 2006 the society had 3,422 members. It publishes the scientific journals Genetics and G3: Genes, Genomes, Genetics ( open access journal, founded 2011).

The GSA was founded in 1931 at the meeting of the American Society of Zoologists in New Orleans as a reorganization of the joint genetics section of the American Society of Zoologists and the Botanical Society of America . LC Dunn became its first president. The GSA is a member of the International Genetics Federation .
