Michael Lynch (biologist)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Michael Lynch (* 1951 ) is an American evolutionary biologist and population geneticist .

Michael Lynch acquired in 1977 at the University of Minnesota 's academic degree Ph.D. in ecology . He teaches at Indiana University . He wrote several textbooks recognized in specialist circles. In his main work The Origin of Genome Architecture , published in 2007, Lynch attacks the synthetic theory of evolution in that he negates the need for natural selection and adaptation to enforce mutations in the population . He shows that the implementation of mutations can be possible without adaptive processes.

In 2002 Lynch became a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences , and in 2009 the National Academy of Sciences . In 2013, Lynch became President of the Genetics Society of America . In 2014 he was elected to the Royal Society .
