Genlisea pygmaea is a carnivorous species from the genus of trap traps ( Genlisea ), which wasfirst described in 1833 by Augustin François César Prouvençal de Saint-Hilaire .
description
This species is very small compared to other members of its genus. Its narrow spatulate leaves spread out, as is usual with many fish trap traps, to form a rosette of leaves. The inflorescences covered with glandular hair grow between 5 and 15 cm high. They have a maximum of 8 light yellow flowers , only about 1 cm in size, with a short, pointed spur. The next related species is called Genlisea aurea . The two species differ particularly in their size.
distribution
This species needs a lot of water, which is why you can find it on wet, partly flooded sandy soils in lake or marsh areas and on sandstone cliffs at altitudes of 900 to 1400 m. The Genlisea pygmaea is a South American species that occurs in Brazil , Venezuela , Guyana , Colombia and Trinidad .
