Gennady Ignatievich Mikhailov
Gennadi Ignatjewitsch Michailow ( Russian Геннадий Игнатьевич Михайлов ; born February 8, 1974 in Cheboksary ) is a former Russian cyclist and current sports director .
Athletic career
Gennady Mikhailov began his career in 1996 with the Lada-CSKA team . In 2000 he moved to Farm Frites and in 2001 he joined the Belgian Lotto-Adecco team . There he made his only Tour de France participation in two years . His best result in 2001 was 59th overall. In 2002 he achieved his first professional victory, he won a stage of the Tour of Luxembourg . The following year he moved to the US team US Postal Service to Lance Armstrong . At the Vuelta a España 2004 he and his teammates won the opening team time trial. At the end of the 2009 season he ended his sporting career to become sporting director at Katyusha .
