Gennady Pavlovich Tarasov

Gennady Pavlovich Tarasov ( Russian Геннадий Павлович Тарасов ; born September 14, 1947 in Moscow , Russian SFSR ) is a former Soviet and Russian diplomat .

Life

Tarasov studied at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations until 1970 . From 1970 to 1976 he was employed at the embassy in Cairo . From 1976 to 1982 he was employed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Middle East Department. From 1982 to 1986 he was counselor at the UN headquarters . From 1986 to 1990 he was Deputy Head of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1991 to 1996 he was ambassador to Saudi Arabia . From 1996 to 1998 he was spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and head of public relations . From August 27, 1998 to February 1, 2002, he was Ambassador to Lisbon , Portugal . From February 1, 2002 to January 31, 2007, he was Ambassador to Tel Aviv , Israel . From February 2007 to 2008 he was Ambassador-at-large in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
