Genoveva Schauer (born October 2, 1898 in Dachau , † January 28, 1962 in Munich ) was a councilor in Munich.

Schauer was the owner of a carpet weaving mill. She began her political engagement in 1920 when she joined the union. In 1924 she joined the SPD . She campaigned for social issues early on.

After the end of the Second World War , she was first head of the district, later chair of the district committee in the Munich district of Haidhausen-Süd. Against the will of the city council, she pushed through the reconstruction of the Wörthschule in her district.

In 1953 Schauer was elected to the Munich City Council, to which she belonged until her death. With her commitment to social tasks, she quickly earned the reputation of the city ​​mother . As the mother of the police , she also campaigned for the improvement of the working conditions of the then still urban security forces.

Genoveva Schauer died on January 28, 1962 at the age of 63.

On the first anniversary of her death, Mayor Hans-Jochen Vogel unveiled a plaque commemorating her at the Wörthschule. In 1998, a square was named after her in the Haidhausen district not far from her former apartment.
