Geoffrey Foot

Geoffrey Macadam Foot (born May 19, 1915 in Putney , † September 9, 2010 in London ) was a British film editor .

Life

Foot was hired early on by Ealing Studios in London and initially worked as a camera operator and then as an assistant editor for Thorold Dickinson . Until he left Ealing in 1938, he refined his methods in film editing ; he switched to cutting on actors at scene transitions and for the most part doing without the transitions that were common at the time .

As an editor he then worked for the Mayflower company for some time ; with the beginning of the Second World War he took on documentary work . After the war he returned to his main job and cut a. a. Das Saving Lied (1947) and Unruhiges Blut (1948), before a long collaboration with David Lean began. His work for Disney and especially the work on The Man with the Green Carnation (1960) by producer Irving Allen paved the way for him to international large-scale productions, for which he worked well into the 1980s. Even television series as number six are in his filmography.
