Geoffrey Perkins
Geoffrey Perkins (born February 22, 1953 - † August 29, 2008 in London ) was a British comedy producer, writer and actor who played a central role in comedy radio.
Life
Geoffrey Perkins worked for BBC Radio in light entertainment for many years, producing shows such as The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy . He wrote and starred with Angus Deayton on Radio Active , which was adopted on television as KYTV . He later produced The Uncyclopaedia of Rock for Capital Radio, which won the Monaco Radio Award. He invented the game Mornington Crescent for the radio show I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue .
For several years he was the director of Hat Trick Productions, an independent television and radio production company. He has also worked on Spitting Image , Saturday Live , Harry Enfield's Television Program , Ben Elton: The Man From Auntie , Game On , Father Ted and The Thin Blue Line . Perkins became director of comedy at BBC television in 1995 and then director of production at Tiger Aspect. In 2005 he had a minor supporting role in the fourth season of Hitchhiker’s , as the producer of the radio show Arthur Dent worked on, so basically he played himself to Arthur's Douglas Adams .
Perkins was married to Lisa Braun, who was a studio manager during the radio production of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy . He died in a traffic accident in London on August 29, 2008.
