Georg August Grotefend

Georg August Grotefend (born March 2, 1832 in Lingen (Ems) , † December 7, 1903 in Marburg ) was a German writer and lawyer.

Life

He passed his Abitur in 1850 at the Georgianum Gymnasium (Lingen) . He later moved to Bremen . He then went to Göttingen to study there. During his law studies he learned Latin intensively , which enabled him to acquire a large vocabulary and later to master the language like his own mother tongue. After completing his studies, he joined the Hanoverian and later the Prussian civil service as a lawyer and found employment in the civil service in Trier and Düsseldorf , among others . He became known for writing legal texts.
